And another new week begins!
November 2, 2026

Two-Eyed Seeing (Mi'kmaw: Etuaptmumk) is a guiding principle that means learning to view the world through the strengths of Indigenous ways of knowing with one eye, and the strengths of Western ways of knowing with the other eye, using both together for the benefit of all. This parallels beautifully with the Episcopal practice of "both/and" thinking, which describes a way of living out the Christian faith that rejects rigid "either/or" binaries in favor of balance, inclusion, and dialogue.
The Office of Indigenous Ministries celebrates the longstanding presence and influence of Native Americans throughout the history of The Episcopal Church. Exercising a deep spirituality grounded in respect for and care of creation and others, Indigenous Episcopalians enrich the church through myriad roles in lay and ordained ministry, modeling wisdom, resilience, and forbearance. Indigenous Ministries works for the full inclusion of Indigenous people in the life and leadership of the church.
In 2022, The Indigenous Ministries of The Episcopal Church published an Indigenous Disciples Prayer Book for use in worship services. Some parishes also utilize the First Nations Version, an Indigenous translation of the New Testament crafted by and for Indigenous peoples.
