My Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
As schools let out and summer vacations begin, it's not uncommon for attendance at church to drop and for holes to open in various ministry schedules, to say nothing of missed pledge payments. But St. Nicholas has life-giving ministries that operate all year long. If you are not currently involved in ministry in an on-going way, then please volunteer during the summer as "vacation relief."
Our small parish is able to offer all that it does (and accomplish what we do) because of our community teamwork. We're all part of one body - the Body of Christ in the world. Each of us has unique gifts, capable of making valuable contributions.
Start with a fun, in-door (air conditioned) ministry, such as our ministry of hospitality and entertainment centered around bingo on Thursday and Sunday afternoons. It's easy to be a verifier or checker or a caller. And Cashier Two just sells special games, all of which are one dollar apiece. You can help while also being fulfilled by the joy we bring to so many elderly neighbors.
In Christ's Love & Peace,
Mark Andrew+
