UPDATE:
Broward Sheriff's Office continues to investigate our February 6th break-in. To date no individuals have been identified or arrested. Please, if you have your financial institution mail a payment to the church which should have been received between Monday, February 2nd and Thursday, February 5th contact and inform them of the robbery and request a duplicate payment. If you incur additional fees, provide the office with a statement that we may include in our insurance claim provided we meet the deduction requirements. Olivia, Jack, Bob, Tricia, and I work daily to assist in the investigation and to mitigate damages.

Early Friday morning, February 6th, an individual or individuals systematically violated our church campus. Dismantled the FPL meter, snapped the lock from the central breaker panel leaving the entire west buildings with no power, gained entry into the Thrift Shop and church kitchen, opened cabinets and drawers including parish nurse’s supplies. Using a heavy tool, smashed the impact window in parish administrator’s office allowing for a search of files, cabinets, and our safe. After destruction of the combination lock on the safe, lifted the door and removed all money pouches. Estimated amount of cash lost is $5000. We are thankful no staff or school personnel were injured but, none-the-less, BSO has been informed that should their investigation yield the culprit, we will prosecute.
A deep thanks to Olivia Drakes, Junior Warden, Bob Reid, sexton; Jack Gillis, Holy Grill/Provisions manager; Sue Giordano, bingo coordinator and Tricia Blair, parish administrator for all their assistance to the police and to facilitate cleaning and repair.
Before I left the parish hall following coffee hour, I was approached by a number of individuals, who wish anonymity, with offers of cash exceeding $2,000. THANK YOU ALL! This is what makes this parish family so special—this is the salt Fr. Roger spoke lovingly about in Sunday’s sermon.
